It consists of a coil of wire (a solenoid) and a plunger that moves when current flows through the coil, converting electrical energy into mechanical motion. These locks are versatile, can be integrated into access control systems, and are available in various configurations, including fail-safe (unlocks on power loss) or fail-secure (locks on power loss).
